Stephen & Mary Beth Fan Event

It was obvious that a lot of hard work went into setting up the event 🙂

Everyone got lovely folders with S&K music CD’s and a full color program. Lots of beautiful pictures and posters for sale too; and the buffet was really great 🙂

Q&A

They both looked gorgeous. I love how Stephen looks in white. And Mary Beth was wearing such a beautiful outfit! I love Mary Beth’s energy and what she brings out in Stephen, too. She is so descriptive, warm, effervescent, and funny.

Stephen laughed at one point saying that he is entertained by her all day. She’s descriptive and will tell you anything she is going through, even sometimes when you don’t want to know certain details, LOL. This is when she said she should do a chat just for women about what aging is like, LOL.

Stephen mentioned he had forgotten how connected and how much fun he had working with Mary Beth. They both said they were having such a great time.

A fan had a Band-Aid on his nose, and Stephen asked him if it was a skin cancer (and was told yes). Mary Beth mentioned she had read an article that even a flake of skin that won’t go away could be the beginning of skin cancer. Both she and Stephen recalled having had that on their noses before.

Mary Beth’s son Danny is going to college and she was telling us some of the classes he was taking- basically summed up saying, he was looking to get into the lots-of-girls classes, LOL. Her daughter Katie is in Spain for three weeks in an exchange program, hoping to learn Spanish.

Mary Beth described (mostly with her body language, LOL) how she and her family are always intertwined, and she said something about putting her hand in her kids t-shirt armpits, LOL. She said Katie is into “sports light”….sports at school but not club sports. Her youngest son is about 180 pounds and 5’8!!! He is very into water polo.

Before joining Days, Mary Beth was asked to join OLTL -again! (MBE said it was a different time from the one we had heard about). Mary Beth laughed that she had been mulling it over, and talked to her daughter, who said something like, “Fine, miss my entire high school career.” LOL. Mary Beth’s face was like “uh oh”, so that is what made her say no to that one.

Stephen’s son has bought a house or rented, not sure which, and is expanding his pet walking business to include a kennel.

Stephen still does yoga, he said every Sunday.

One of my favorite things that came up was the DVD’s Cindy made, which they were very grateful for. Stephen was really moved/touched by his daughter’s reaction to watching the DVD’s, since she had never seen Steve and Kayla before.

Stephen said that she had very sophisticated tastes in music and film, etc., and she watched it start to finish and said, “Papa, you’re a REALLY good actor!” You could tell that meant a lot to Stephen.

The reason we see the bandana on SN’s head (from the July 4th episode) in the SOD pictures is because he had it that way in rehearsal, but the producers thought it was too *edgy*, so they changed it when it came time to tape. They said the same about the buttons in the hospital.

They don’t really know what is coming up in their story. They know they are in a transition and they know Hogan is a good writer, so they hope for the best. Mary Beth talked about his great writing on ATWT.

They are grateful that they have been allowed to tweak some scenes on Days to make them more true to the characters.

I asked about where S&K are living and they both laughed like who knows. Stephen said I guess I am still at Jack’s, LOL…

Steve has some scenes coming up with Bo (look for some references to actual/true history!). Kayla and Hope will also have a scene coming up.

MBE said that the show really was more about the couples than about storylines; even in those scenes all they talked about was how Bo belongs with Hope, etc…where they should have a story as well. So they are hoping Hogan brings in the story.

Stephen hasn’t picked up a harmonica in a long time; said the blues kind of got monotonous to him after a while, though he still enjoyed listening to his brother’s band playing. However, he is really looking forward to playing the harmonica again.

Someone asked him about the noise of his boots or if he drags his feet, LOL. So Stephen did a walk and strut for us, LOL, in his usual hysterical way, with the facial expressions and everything. He was demonstrating how the heel on boots just kind of drags in general, because of the weight of the heel or something. But someone added it was Steve’s signature walk, not to change it. Mary Beth laughed that at least we always knew when he was coming, LOL.

Stephen asked what everyone thought of Stephanie. They said the red hair went along with the Brady’s being Irish etc. They talked to Shayna (Stephanie) about her character calling Steve “Papa” and gave her a rundown of the history.

Stephen was asked about whether Steve was going to see Jack again/show concern that he is “dying”, and Stephen said that on Days, once an actor or character is on the way out, they don’t get to interact as much with the rest of the cast. This was disappointing since Matt was on his way out. He said Jack and Steve had tons of story left to tell between them and wished that Matt could return at some point in the future (since they aren’t killing him off).

Stephen was asked which character he played was most like him, and had trouble answering that; said each character had a little bit of him in them. Mary Beth answered, the guy he played in “He Hunts”, LOL, adding “he is funny believe it or not”, LOL.

Stephen brought up Steve having the “flashback” outside the Brady pub, and knowing the next script didn’t even address the flashback or what that was supposed to be about. Guess he was as confused as we were on that one, but just said he had to “go with it” and assume that it was just such a quick flash that Steve couldn’t make heads or tails of it.

Stephen asked at some point whether he had any scenes with Stefano before. He seemed to think he had, and other people told him he hadn’t, so we cleared that up. They had a storyline together (the whole Benji and Stefano Island stuff), but Steve (as far as we could remember) didn’t have a face to face confrontation/scene with Stefano ever. Stephen was speculating that they are bringing back some DiMera, but he didn’t think it was Stefano.

A fan asked if they were ever going to bring up Benji and the fact that he had a connection to Stefano. Mary Beth said that Kayla does mention him (this week in fact), but in passing, not in connection to Stefano.

Raffle

Mary Beth had mentioned (earlier) that her son, Danny, had seen Stephen in some risqué scene, but then Stephen went on with his story and that tidbit was kind of forgotten.

During the raffle drawing, someone won a DVD of a Stephen movie and a comment was made that SN was a little bit nude in that one (something like that), and Mary Beth said, I think that’s the one Danny saw (when he was staying in a hotel room with her husband Michael), LOL.

Someone won a DVD copy of Mary Beth’s movie Toy Soldiers. She remarked that she wanted one too; her kids had seen “Lovelives” (LOL, she didn’t remember the name of her own movie <g>) and her kids thought that movie was very cool.

Autographs/Pics

I sat down and told Mary Beth a story of how I got her pie, and told her how good it was!

Later they did a photo op of just them standing alone in pics, and they were so cute!

I don’t know what was going on, but Stephen started doing something that cracked Mary Beth up as if she was being tickled to death, and had tears coming out of her eyes.

We met at Jerry’s later for the Lakeside get together, and that was nice –great turnout! Then later that evening, Cindy, Alison, Nikki, Andrea, Patty, Linda and I had dinner at CPK and I drove Cindy home.

It was really wonderful catching up with everyone 🙂
